Malawi is a small country in Southern Africa. It is
part of the Great Rift Valley and has a population of 10 million.
David McCullagh and David Atherton had been serving in Cote d'Ivoire from September 2004 up until the recent increase in violence. From January 2005 they will be moving to Malawi to work with Scripture Union of Malawi.
David McCullagh has travelled to Malawi on four occasions, the most recent during July and August 2004. He went on behalf of Scripture Union Northern Ireland with a team from the Armagh area to work with Scripture Union Malawi in their camps ministry. SU Malawi and SU Northern Ireland have had strong links over the past few decades.
Malawi
has been in the news recently due to the famine in Southern Africa.
Times are difficult for the people and for Christian ministries.
