Malawi - The Warm Heart of Africa
In May 2003, I went to Malawi on my third visit, to meet with members of Scripture Union of Malawi and to see the ministry in action. It was a trip to gain an insight into the working of SU Malawi and to bring that information home and share it with Scripture Union Northern Ireland.
Malawi is a small country in Southern
Africa. It is
part of the Great Rift Valley and has a population of 10 million.
I have travelled to Malawi on two other occasions, the most recent to this trip during July and August 2000. SU Malawi and SU Northern Ireland have had strong links over the past few decades.
Malawi
had been in the news during 2002 and 2003 due to the famine in Southern Africa.
Times continue to be difficult for the people and for Christian ministries.
